Katrina kaif born on 16 July 1983 is a british indian actress and former model who appears in indian films,mainly in hindi film industry. She has also appeared in Telugu and Malayalam films.Being a british citizen, she works in india on an employement visa.
- Kaif made her acting debut in 2003 with kaizad gustad's box office bomb BOOM.
- The following year , she starred in the Telugu romantic comedy Malliswari, which emerged a financial success.
- In 2007, she earned commercial success in bollywood with Vipul shah's Namaste London and later earned recognition for playing glamorous roles in the male centric films such as partner(2007),Race(2007) and Singh is king (2008).
- All of which were box office successes , kaif subsequently played more prominent roles in films like New York (2009),Rajneeti (2010),Zindagi na milegi Dobaara(2011), Ek tha Tiger (2012).
- Despite earning mixed reviews from critics for her acting powess, she has established herself as a commercially successful actress in Hindi Cinema.
- kaif was born in Hongkong to indian kashmiri father,Mohammad kaif and an English mother ,susanna Turcotte , who is a british citizen.
- Her parents were divorced when she was young.
- kaif once stated "My dad ,Unfortunately , and not out of choice had no influence to our upbringing on our religious or social or moral bearings.
- Though born to a muslim father and christian mother, kaif's religion is unknown.
- However , she visits religious places mosques , temples, churches and sufi shrines.
- kaif once stated in an online interview that she always wears a taweez.
- kaif's mother worked in NGO's : they moved to many countries like Hongkong,Hawaii, France, Germany, china and Japan.
- She persued her Engineering studies in London at age 17,but she was not intrested in that field.
- Instead she wanted to be in the modelling and glamour industry.
- In an interview, The Times of India, kaif stated that she came to india to search for her career at the age of 17.
- Her philanthropic work includes her association with an NGO her mother works for , the Relief Projects India.
Modelling and film debut (1997-2003):
- Kaif first expressed interest in a career in modelling at the age of fourteen , when she won a beauty contest in Hawaii.
- And subsequently received her first assignment as a model- a jewellary campaign.
- kaif's successful modelling stint led to immense anticipation surroundig her bollywood debut.
- When I signed this film , I didn't know much about India and its film audience.

- I got to know later that the film had major flaws in terms of script and presentation.
- kaif was later offered a number of modelling assignments , through filmmakers were hesitant to cast her due to poor command in hindi.
- In one such incident , she was unceremoniously removed from the film Saaya.
- Subsequently, kaif began working on her diction through hindi classes.

- After the Failure of her first bollywood venture, kaif took on a telugu film Malliswari.
- Cast opposite Daggubati venkatesh, the film saw kaif play the titular role of a princess, heiress to 7 Billion , who is forced to flee from her murderous caretaker.
- From the film she reportedly received (US$110,000) , the highest amount payed to an actress in south industry at the time of release.
- Moreover , the film emerged as an economical success.
- kaif next appeared in Rajkumar santhoshi's hit comedy ajab prem ki gajab kahani, as an orphan who is forced to marry a rich man against her wishes.
- kaif was generally praised for her performances.
- Adarsh mentions that " katrina kaif continues to surprise . she surprised you in newyork, she surprises you again in this film.
- She scores in both emotional and light scenes", adding with her chemistry with co-star Ranbir kapoor is electrifying.
- Her final release in the year was De dana dhan, along side Akshay kumar, Sunil shetty, presh rawal, Sameera reddy and neha Dhupia.
- kaif has finished her third installment from Dhoon franchise , Dhoom 3.
- Which is set for a release in December 2013, Directed by viajy krishna Acharya , the film will see kaif star as a gymanst alongside Aamir khan , Abhisheik bachchan and Uday chopra.
- She is currently filming for Siddharth anadh's action comedy Bang Bang , opposite Hrithik roshan.
- kaif has recently signed two film's - Anurag basu's detective film , jagga jasoos, in which she will feature alongside Ranbir kapoor as well as Abhisheik kapoor's adaptation of Charles Dicken's Great Expectations entitled Fitoor opposite Sushant singh rajput.

- She had a barbie girl named after her and had endorsed various other brands like Airtel, Alokozay tea, Dyna, Godrej, Lakme, Spice Telecom, 7 Heaven,Samsung plano, Season store and the watch house during her modelling days and also during her initial days in bollywood.
