Besharam is a 2013 bollywood romantic action comedy film directed by Abhinav kashyap.The film features ranbir kapoor opposite pallavi sharadha who marks her return to the celluloid.

Filming for besharam was sheduled to commence on december 10, 2012.with part of it taking place on a film set in film city mumbai.

The films tag line has stated as "Na samman ka moh, na apman ka bhay ", translated as "No earning for respect , no fear for humiliation . The film received mixed to negative reviews upon its release on 2 Oct 2013.Besharam was declared flop by Box office india in just three days after release.





Plot synopsis :

• Babli(Ranbir kapoor) is a small town car thief with the X-factor through which he manages to charm everyone in his sight.
• His mantra is "Na Sammaan ka moh, na apmaan ka bhay"(no earning for respect , no fear of humilation).
• Banli falls head over heels for Tara(pallavi sharada) but clearly not her type.
• Eventually, she falls for him.
• Babli is being chased by inspector chulbul chautala(rishi kapoor) and his wife, head constable bulbul chautala(neetu kapoor).
• Tara wishes for babli to change and be a good guy but that clearly doesn't come easy in babli's life.

Production :

• Movie temple the production company of Sanjeev gupta, himanshu mehra will release their movie Besharam on Oct 2,2013.
• Filmm composer Lalit pandit has confirmed that he has been asked to work on the film's sound track and it will consist of six tracks.
• Pandit also stated that the music was completed in the film's pre-production stages as per the instructions of director kashyap.
• In January 2013, the actors rishi kapoor and neetu singh , parents actor ranbir kapoor were confirmed as starring in besharam in unspecified roles.
• The movie was shot extensively in Carnation Auto, Chandigarh.
• As on April 20, 2013, Ranbir kapoor(Actor), Abhinav kashyap(director) and many in the unit were shooting at universal trade tower , sector 49, sohna road, gurgoan, haryana.
• The trailer of the film is launched by ranbir kapoor and abhinav kashyap at an orphanage in mumbai on 2nd Aug 2013.
• The first trailer is released on 30 July 2013.

Soundtrack:

• The sound track of besharam was composed by lalit pandit of the famous jatin-lalit duo and the lyrics are pinned by Ranjeev barnwal, nikhat khan & Himanshu kishan mehra.
• The soundtrack originally for a 14th Aug 2013 release  was released on 26th aug 2013 via CD and MP3 sites.

• The song "Love ki ghanti " was released as a single track on mp3 sites in the beginning.
• Later , the official soundtrack of the film was released on the website of T- series.

Marketing :

• Besharam was promoted extensively on TV shows like Comedy nights with kapil , kaun banega crorepathi , jalak Dhikla ja, 
• Ranbir and pallavi also promoted the film in newyork with diwali bash at times square and in london and dubai.

Release :

• Besharam released 3600 screens in india on 2 Oct 2013, making it the biggest hindi film in history till date.
• Besharam beats chennai express which had the biggest release ever for a hindi film with 3500 screens in india and 700 plus screens abroad.
• Utpal acharya , Distribution head of reliance entertainment said that they had planned for 4000 screens release for besharam, but pawan kalyans telugu film "Atharintiki dareedhi" released on sep 27 2013 got a phenomenal response in advance booking.
• That takes away some screens which they had planned in andhra pradesh.
• Tamilnadu, karnataka and kerala for besharam.
• Besharam had a shooting budget Rs.60 crore plus the cost of promotions, marketing and advertising of Rs.18 crore appx.

Critical reception :

• Besharam received bad to average reviews from critics.
• madhureeta Mukherjee of Times of india rated it 3.5 to 5 stars and posited that the director "relies on the sheer 3K power to entertain.
• Taran adarsh of bollywood hungama gave it 1.5 stars out of 5 and stated that the film proves the adage of " All that glitters is not gold" absolutely right.
• The film is a huge dissapointment.
• Mohar basu of Koimoi gave it 1.5 stars out of 5 and stated that "Besharam has too many shortcomings and lacks the ravishing junk delight of calamitous ending that commercial flicks usually generate.
• Subhash K.Jha gave it 1 stars out of 5 and said " Besharam is entirely devoid of any rhythm, sur or taal.
• It shot like an ongoing television sitcom where the actors are clueless about which way the intended laughter would take them.

Boxoffice:

• Besharam opened to an excellent response on its opening day , recording 90 percent occupencies in theatres.
• However , due to the negative reports the film manages to collect 19.50 crore , falling short of the expected 25 crore figure.
• The film witnessed a huge drop of nearly 60-70 percent on its second day and had an epic crash on Thursday net grossing 6.50 crore only.
• The film fell further 15 percent on friday on grossing 5.75 crore.
• The film collected 31.50 crore over its weekend , which was a huge dissapointment compared to the opening day collection and was declared a "flop " three after release.
