Marrakesh-the ochre city in northern Africa

Situated at the foot of the towering Atlas mountain in northern Africa.Marrakesh is the cultural center of the country of morocco.It was founded in 1060 AD by religious nomads,the almoravids for merchants it was the first great city north of the s and became atrading and sahara desert sting place on anicent caravan routes.It was the first capital of a united morocco and one of its four great imperial cities.

Today marrakesh is exotic,intriguing ,and intoxicating.it also a city of contradictions being both a modern city and a desert town.
Geographically,it split into two distinct areas :the traditional moroccan walled median or old city,and the Vlle Nouvelle or modern marrakesh it is quite possible to happily spend your entire visit to marrakesh with in the medina.

Jeema el fna is thepulse of marrakesh.its name roughly translates to Assembly of the Dead and although all tourists find their way here,it is distinctly moroccan and patronized by Marrakshis as well almost a thousand years ago trans-Haran caravans carrying species,gold,salt,sugar and slaves stopped here in this huge open African squre-after weeks of travelling-looking for a company and entertainment.
